Koda and Maddox - Best Buddies

When we first got pregnant we were worried how our first little boy Koda would react to having a new brother. It took a little time, but now it seems that the two little boys are the best of friends.

Merry Christmas!

We had an awesome Christmas this year! Maddox is such a sweet boy and having a new baby sure does make the season that much more special and gives you more to be thankful for. We ran around all Christmas and it was nice to be able to spend time with our family.

Christmas Eve was filled with fun at Great Grandma and Grandpa Klug's followed by presents from Santa at Grandma Dagmar and Grandpa Randy's house. They are foster parents of six girls and it was so fun to be there while the girls enjoyed their gifts from Santa. Christmas morning we were up bright and early and to Aunt Sarah and Uncle Brian's house by 7am. Santa had stopped there too and it was a blast to watch Kaelen, Graysen and Logen open their gifts. The rest of the afternoon was spent EATING!! We ate a Christmas dinner with Klugs at 1 and then with the Revords at 5. I think we had to be rolled back home by the end of the day!

Here comes Santa Claus!

I can't believe it is almost Christmas. We spent most of the day today finishing up our shopping and hopefully this weekend I will be able to get everything wrapped. This last Wednesday Maddox had a chance to visit with Santa and tell him everything he wanted for Christmas; I have a feeling he is on the nice list this year.

We were very lucky that Trey was able to take three weeks off when Maddox was born, but sadly the time has finally come for him to head back to work. Maddox and I are going to miss him a lot during the day and we will try our best to hold down the fort.

More Maddox

Here are some new pictures of our little guy. It seems like he is changing everyday. He loves to eat! We are all doing well and working to get adjusted to our new life together.

Maddox's First Doctor's Appointment

Today we had Maddox's two week check-up (weird they scheduled it now since he is only a week old, but oh well). He now weighs 8 lbs 11 oz and is 21 inches long. The doctor said that everything looked great and that he seemed to be growing well. Afterwards we had to head to the lab so he could have some blood taken for a state mandated screening test. Trey nominated me to go back with the baby, which was the worst thing I have had to do so far. Poor baby was screaming so bad he could be heard all the way in the waiting room, which of course was where Trey was relaxing. I on the other hand was sweating to death trying to find a way to make poor Maddox calm down while the lab tech poked him and squeezed the crap out of his heel. I am glad to say we made it through and are now home trying to unwind from that stressful 10 minutes. Trey will for sure be taking his turn next when any shots or blood work is needed :)

Maddox James is finally here!

Well we are finally a family! On Sunday Trey and I welcomed Maddox James into the world. Maddox was a big boy weighing in at 8 pounds 5 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. Labor was harder than I expected, but completely worth it once we set eyes on Maddox. Hearing him cry for the first time was unreal and I have a feeling it was that moment that changed our lives forever.

We were in the hospital until Wednesday morning and have spent the last few days adjusting to life at home. We work together and have a system down for diaper changes and feedings. Koda is still uncertain about his new little brother, but hopefully after a few more days they will be best buddies.

Below are some pictures of our little guy. We think he is perfect, but we may be a little biased :)

Birth Classes

This weekend we started our two weekend series of birth classes. I was not optimistic that the classes would be useful; I thought they would be full of lame breathing exercises that only advocated natural labor (despite all my 5th grade DARE training I will not be saying no to drugs) and techniques that would never work. To my surprise the class was actually pretty useful. Instead of hee-hees and who-whos the class taught a lot of relaxation and massage, plus filled us in on how labor works. While it was a little scary (they showed some videos, one that made me squirm) I feel a tiny bit better about the process.

Next weekend, the empathy belly........I'll be sure to post pictures :)

Let's Play Catch Up......Again

So I seem to be pretty bad at keeping up on the blog! I always seem to be a few weeks behind, so let me get you caught up on the happenings over the last couple weeks. Last weekend my sister and mom threw me an awesome baby shower. Everything was so great! The decorations were super cute, King of the Jungle theme, and we all had a great time eating, playing games and ogling over all the cute baby gifts. It was great to spend an afternoon with friends and family. It seems crazy to me that he is almost here, and I can't wait to put all the fun gifts we got to use.
Kaelen keeping watch over the cake table.
Kaelen and I right before we dominated at the baby word search. With her help we got every answer right!

Here is a picture of the super AWESOME diaper cake that Sarah handmade! I still can't bring myself to take it apart.

The weekend before the baby shower Trey and I celebrated our 2 year wedding aniversary. The last two years we were able to celebrate in Mexico, but this year that was not really my idea of a fun vacation (I don't think an 8 month pregnant lady in bikini would exactly be the best view, not that you could pay me to wear a swimsuit right now anyways......) Instead we spent a fun and relaxing weekend in Cannon Beach. The weather was fantastic and it was nice to spend some quality time together. We were able to explore some of the local state parks and beaches, eat lots of yummy food, and play a few games.

Updates

Well, Trey pointed out to me yesterday that we haven't updated the blog for over a month! Time has been flying by around here. I am now in my third trimester, I can't believe how fast these 30 weeks have gone! I hear that everything seems to slow down from now forward, but I am hoping for the best.

I am still feeling pretty good, although there are the occasional bad days. Trey's been really great and is always there to cheer me up, paint my toes, or rub my back. I am a very lucky girl! I passed my last set of doctor's tests (glucose and something else) with flying colors and I didn't even pass out when they took my blood (I know I'm a big baby). Unfortunately, we are still not any closer to picking a name. I keep hoping the perfect name will just hit us and we will automatically just know. So far nothing seems to stick!

We have had some really exciting news within the last month. Trey got a new job within Pepsi and now is the Driver Supervisor. NO MORE WORKING WEEKENDS!! It is really nice to have days off together again (although I think he wishes he was working on the weekends when my nesting kicks in). He works 3:30am to 12:30pm; we are still adjusting to the new earlier schedule, but so far so good :)

Weekend Fun!

We had an awesome weekend thanks to the company of family and friends!

On Saturday we headed to Seaside to celebrate Trey's 26th birthday.

The crew with their bikes headed for the sand.

The bike wasn't too flattering for me, when I sat down I was all belly.

Sunday Trey was able to score us some VIP passes to the final day of the Dew Tour, and thanks to Grammy Barb watching the little ones, Sarah and Kaelen were able to come with us. The BMX finals were awesome! It is hard to imagine how these guys are able to pull tons of tricks on those tiny bikes.
